Rec League: Due to personal circumstances, Jim Balsdon stepped down from the Junior Rec League position. Doug Hoyt filled the position along with the help of Janine Bennett who will help coordinate the facilities. Suggestions were made to move the registration for rec league to an earlier date, possibly closer to Thanksgiving. The forms sent in the Dryden School Bulletin newsletter were very successful.

Broome County Meeting: Tara Jenne reported that March 14 is the spring league coaches meeting. All coaches must attended to get the books. There is an outstanding fine for the Spring season last year. Risk management numbers must be on each roster for each team. Disclosure statements to be sent to Gary Acker- address is available on the website. As of January 1, 2002 all U-10 games are noncompetitive.

Soccer Camp: DSC voted and OK’d the use of the DSC name for summer soccer camp organized by Janine Bennett.

Travel Teams: DSC is holding coaches responsible for team sportsmanship and conduct. Reports of excessive yellow cards during games by parents has prompted DSC to look more closely at the problem of inappropriate conduct during play.Sanctions against teams with sportsmanship problems was discussed. Other NYSW coaches have enforced a $25.00 fine for yellow cards and a $50.00 fine for red card to be paid by the player. Code of conduct for players and coaches was discussed. DSC needs to have coaches attend DSC meeting to understand all the issues of being a coach. They need to be a part of all decision making including club by-laws. A coach and/or the assistant coach can be represented at the meeting. After much discussion DSC decided to encourage parents to express concerns about the issuance of yellow cards at games directly to the DSC. Bill Turner will then in turn contact the coaches in question and the facility where the game was played. DSC supports the code of conduct and will back the facilities discipline, even if it means banning the team from play. Mike Allmendinger’s team was involved in an incident at the Field. Injuries were incurred to a Dryden player by an Ithaca player. Bill Turner will write a letter to the President of the Ithaca Club to express our concerns. A copy will also be sent to the NYSW and the Broome County Soccer League. Our purpose is to make the governing bodies aware of the assault and to establish a precedent on how to handle these incidents.

DSC Tournament: NYSW has approved the tournament and is listed on the website. The tournament will be held on April 6 and 7. The U-12 Division may be at the Dryden Elementary School. All other divisions will be at the High School.
